You want to look refreshed and awake, but your puffy eyes give you away? There are a lot of super easy tips to try at home and treat your puffy eyes! Take a look:
1. Cucumbers, eat & treat
Place a cool cucumber slice over each eye and rest for 30 minutes. You can also blend 2 to 3 cucumbers, strain the pulp and refrigerate for 20 minutes. After that, soak a cotton swab in the juice and apply the cucumber extract over each eye. Rinse off with water after 15-20 minutes. Cucumbers have a rich source of antioxidants and flavonoids that help with redness, swelling, and irritation; that’s why they are used for eye puffiness. They can even reduce eye puffiness because they have a cooling effect that constricts dilated blood vessels. So, don’t eat them all!
2.Potatoes, the miraculous
Place thin slices of peeled raw potato on each eye for 10 minutes, at least. You can also grate a raw potato, place it in a few layers of cheesecloth, and lay the pouch over the eyes for 10-15 minutes. Raw potatoes provide a natural source of astringents that help remove excess water from the area under the eyes, and that is the reason why they are miraculous for your puffy eyes.
3.Cold Whole Milk, tasty and helpful
You can saturate a clean towel in ice cold milk, place it over your eyes for about 15 minutes and that’s it! Cold whole milk contains fat which has smoothing effects and combines proteins, amino acids, lactic acid, and vitamins A and D which help reduce eye puffiness. Next time, remember not to drink it all!
4. Tea Bags, we love them
Do you drink tea? Cool, because you can place the tea bags after you let them cool in room temperature, over your eyes and rest for 15-30 minutes. This occurs thanks to the natural astringent, that both caffeinated and herbal/non-caffeinated teas contain, which is called tannin. Tannin constricts the tiny blood vessels in the skin around the eyes and helps in reducing swelling.
5. Egg Whites, we use them everywhere
Apply a beaten egg white, using a brush or your fingers, under your eyes, allow to dry for 10-15 minutes, and gently rinse with water. Egg whites contain a lot of natural astringents that fight eye puffiness by reducing inflammation and stimulating circulation at the area under the eyes.
6. Cold Water, of course
To reduce eye puffiness, rinse a lot of water on your face and if you want to maximize the effect, soak a clean towel with water, squeeze off the excess water and place it over your eyes for a few minutes. Cold water is a vasoconstrictor, which means it decreases blood flow to the skin under the eyes.
7. Chilled Spoons, oldie but goodie
Before you sleep, place two spoons in the fridge and when you wake up the next morning put them on your eyes for a few minutes. Chilled spoons, just like cold water, constrict the blood vessels at the area under the eyes. Super easy, right?
