Eggs, yogurt and honey are, at first glance, all components of a tasty breakfast—but they also happen to be hair treatment ingredients, and affordable, all-natural ones at that. And they’re not the only ones. Did you know, for instance, that the oils in avocados more closely resemble our own skin’s oils than any product in the beauty aisle does? Or that the mild acidity in lemon is an effective—and gentler—alternative to chemical-laden products? Next time your locks need a lift, save money by using one of these kitchen fixes.

“Theegg is really the best of all worlds,” says Janice Cox, author of Natural Beauty at Home. The yolk, rich in fats and proteins, is naturally moisturizing, while the white, which contains bacteria-eating enzymes, removes unwanted oils, she explains.

To Use: For normal hair, use the entire egg to condition hair; use egg whites only to treat oily hair; use egg yolks only to moisturize dry, brittle hair, Cox says. Use 1/2 cup of whichever egg mixture is appropriate for you and apply to clean, damp hair. If there isn’t enough egg to coat scalp and hair, use more as needed. Leave on for 20 minutes, rinse with cool water (to prevent egg from “cooking”) and shampoo hair. Whole egg and yolks-only treatments can be applied once a month; whites-only treatment can be applied every two weeks.

For Dull Hair

Styling products (as well as air pollution) can leave a film that both saps moisture and dulls shine—but dairy products like sour cream and plain yogurt can help reverse this damage. “Lactic acid gently strips away dirt while the milk fat moisturizes,” says Lisa Belkin, author of The Cosmetics Cookbook.

To Use: Massage 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt into damp hair and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, followed by cool water, then shampoo hair as you normally would. Treatment can be applied every other week.

Well, I knew that lemon is the best cure for almost everything (!) that goes wrong with my health, but I didn’t know that it’s good for my hair, too. Lemon can make my hair look healthier and more shiny in the most natural way. So I gathered some smart tips that we girls need to follow to make it shine!

1. For highlighting

This is my favorite and is exactly what I need for my hair! If you want to highlight your hair, first wash it, dry it and then apply some fresh squeezed lemon juice on the sections you want. Brush your hair and then enjoy the sun. Yes, expose your hair to the sun until lemon juice is dried and then wash it off with warm water. So easy!

2.For shining

If you want your hair to shine and shimmer like never before, then try this one: pour fresh lemon juice in a cup of water and rinse your hair with it. Extra tip: you can mix your conditioner with lemon juice, apply it on your hair and leave it for a minute or two. Then rinse thoroughly and get ready to shine!

3.For growing

OK, this is the one that everyone worries about, hair growing. You can massage your hair using lemon juice mixed with coconut oil or olive oil if you want your hair to grow faster. This also works for hair loss because vitamin C strengthens your roots. Exciting, right?

4.For dandruff

Here is a recipe that can help you get rid of it: 1 ts fresh lemon juice, 3 ts water, 1 ts vinegar and ¼ ts salt. Mix all the ingredients and apply them to your scalp for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then wash your hair with your shampoo as always. If you do this regularly for three or four months you will see the difference.

5.For oily scalp

This is for me, I have an oily scalp and it’s awful. Mix fresh lemon juice with vinegar, in equal amounts, and apply it on your scalp. Lemon juice contains citric acid that helps remove the excess oil and dead cells from your scalp. Hallelujah!

6.For lice

You want to get rid of lice? No problem! Mix lemon juice with garlic or almond paste and say goodbye to lice!
These tips are great, really! They are great because they’re natural! But careful, don’t overdo it with the lemon juice. Remember to set limits.

7 Tricks to Make Your Hair Look Thicker

1.Consider Bangs

If your hair is thin at the crown but still thick in front, try bangs to create a fuller look. To go a step further, take a slice of hair underneath the bangs and color it two shades darker than the rest of your hair color, says hairstylist Sam Villa, education artistic director for Redken. When you bring the top layer of fringe down over it, your bangs will look thicker because of the deeper color underneath.

2.Layer Wisely

Ask your stylist to cut the under-layer of your hair half an inch shorter than the top layer. This will add fullness. Never let anyone use a razor, though, because that can create frayed ends that make your hair look wispier. To give heft to fine or thin hair, keep ends blunt.

Don’t subject your hair to more wear and tear than necessary—let it air-dry 80 percent, then use a round brush to lift the roots and smooth the ends. And don’t part your hair where you normally do before you blow-dry, says hairstylist Stacy Ho of Cutler Salon in New York City. “It will wind up flat along the part, which is exactly where you want some height.” Instead, part your hair on the opposite side. When you’re done blow-drying, flip it back and you’ll have gorgeous volume.

I promise that this is one of the easiest things to do for curly hair – I spend way less time styling when it’s long than I ever did when it was short.

2. Take It Easy
Curly girls everywhere spend hours every week with the straightening iron making those curls flat. I used to do the same, but over time, my hair looked dry and damaged from all the product and heat I used on it all the time. Embrace your curls, ladies! Put the heat styling tools and all those products with the harsh ingredients away and let your curls flow.

3. Find a Good Hairstylist
Cutting curly hair takes technique, so do your homework and find a stylist that has experience making curls look fabulous. I suggest long layers that give your hair lots of volume without letting it stick out all over the place. Twist cutting is ideal for curly hair, so don’t be afraid to ask your hair girl to use it when she gives you a cut.

4. Condition Everyday
No, you don’t have to shampoo your curls each and every day. It’s actually better to take a day off from the suds. I wash my curls every other day to keep them lush, but clean. However, it’s really important to condition your curls every day. Look for a conditioner designed for curly hair and gently massage it through your strands every day. It’ll keep your curls soft and manageable

5. Drop The Brush
I fought this tooth and nail for a long time. Now, however, I don’t even own a hairbrush. I comb my hair with a large tooth comb when it’s wet and use my fingers when it’s dry. I know you’ve probably heard that brushing your hair is good for it, but when you brush curls, they just get all frizzy and I can’t stand how that looks. I don’t get tangles all that often as long as I make sure to comb at least once per day.

6. Air Dry
Before you get upset about getting up earlier to let your hair dry in the morning, consider this. I take my shower before bed, which helps me relax and gives my hair a chance to air dry overnight while I sleep. When I get up, I use my fingers and hands to apply product and it always looks great! I promise! Blow drying contributes to breakage and that dreaded frizzy look that I know you hate as much as I do. So give my advice a try and see how it works for you.

7. Style It
Just because you have curls doesn’t mean you can’t have fantastic style. Curls should never stop you from sticking on a cute headband, doing a French twist or sliding your hair into an elegant ponytail. A side braid is also perfect for curly hair.
